Guidelines for the Publication of Manuscripts in the ÁNFORA Journal

The ÁNFORA journal is a biannual publication, which gathers information and knowledge from the results of research conducted in the field of HUMAN SCIENCES, from members of Colombian society and those in international academic and scientific communities.

Manuscripts in ÁNFORA may be written in Spanish, English, or Portuguese. This journal’s focus is on publishing manuscripts that guarantee scientific and editorial quality as well as visibility both nationally and internationally.

Types of manuscripts:

ÁNFORA journal mainly focuses on articles that correspond to the following research processes:

- Manuscripts of scientific and technological research. Manuscripts that present, in detail, the original results of completed research projects. The structure generally consists of four important sections: introduction, methods, results, and conclusions. Research papers.

-Reflection papers. A paper that shows the results of completed research and develops the author’s analytical, interpretative, or critical perspective on a specific topic through the use of  original sources.Reflection papers.

-Review article. An article that is comprised of completed, analyzed, systematized and conducted research that may show published or unpublished results in a field of science or technology in order to present progress and development trends. It is characterized by presenting a careful bibliographic review of at least 52 references. Review papers.

These manuscripts must be original work and be submitted exclusively to the publication in ÁNFORA, and it must be clear that the contents are the sole responsibility of the authors.

The formatting, length and shape of the articles: The articles to be published in the ÁNFORA journal must comply with the following requirements:

  1. The maximum length of manuscripts is 8,000 words in Arial size 11 font with a line spacing of 1.5. The top, bottom, and side margins must be 2,5 cm. The manuscript references must be in accordance with the standards of American Psychological Association (APA), sixth edition.

  1. The structure of the paper must contain four sections: introduction, methods, results, and conclusions.

-Introduction: It mentions the state of knowledge that led the research, the problem, basic objectives, the background, and the importance of the issue.

-Methodology: It includes the processes that led to obtaining results. It must include design, population, procedures, techniques, and ways of processing information to obtain the results and conclusions.

-Results: This part of the manuscript should show the findings and their relationship to the objectives.

-Conclusions: This includes the authors’ reflections about inferences drawn from the results, the theoretical implications based on what was intended to be achieved through the objectives, and issues raised from current theories on the issue.

  1. All manuscripts should show an initial information as a cover page, which should be included in the first pages and should contain the following:

 

Title and names of the author (s) and institution (s):

Title should be short, no more than 15 words, and directly related to the topic. It must have a footnote on page briefly indicating the research, its state, if it is completed or in process, and/ or the event that supports the manuscript, starting date and completion date, and/ or date of completion, an institution that supports it, that finances and runs it, the financing agreements and the corresponding number with the date. 

The author's name with a footnote indicating briefly the professional title and the highest academic title, the institution where the author works, the city, the country, and email should also be included. 

Abstract: This will present the content of the manuscript and state the objectives, methods, results, and conclusions in a text between 200 to 250 words.

Translation: When the manuscript has been approved for publication, the journal is in charge of translating the abstract and key words into English and Portuguese. All manuscript has been approved for publication are translating in English. 

Keywords: A maximum of five terms (5) can be included as subject descriptors of the issue of the manuscript and that correspond to a thesaurus recognized by the scientific community.

Peer review process (double blind review system)

To ensure the quality of the manuscripts, to promote dialogue among the members of the academic and scientific communities, and in order to establish the validity of the proposals, processes, and results of researches, the manuscripts of the ÁNFORA journal are under evaluation by double-blind review system. They shall have at least two evaluators. If the concepts are contrary, a third reviewer will make the decision.

The evaluation results will be known by the authors through a communication sent by the publisher who will be the interlocutor for suggestions, corrections, and other concerns of both the authors and the evaluators. 

The authors will have a maximum of 15 days to incorporate the changes needed.

In any case, if it is required that some changes are made to the manuscripts due to publishing issues, they will be made on the acceptance and approval of the authors.

 

Copyright Policy

With the proposed publication of the manuscript, the authors must also attach the copyright assignment form duly filled out and signed. With this they give the rights of publication for the printed and electronic version of the Ánfora journal along with the format of author information. They must also enclose a letter or format indicating that the research has the informed consent and endorsements of the bioethics committee when appropriate. In addition, authors must declare if there is any conflict of interest in the preparation of the research. 

 

These formats are required to continue the editorial review process.

 

The authors are responsible for the total content of the manuscript and, therefore, their position do not either compromise the publishing entity, the Autonoma University of Manizales, or the editorial and scientific committee of the Ánfora journal.

 

The authors must assume that the manuscripts published in Ánfora can be reproduced without express authorization as long as mention is made of the author or authors, the page numbers that the article covers, the number of the edition, the year of publication, and the Ánfora journal as the source.

 

When there are two or more authors, the Ánfora journal assumes that the first one is the main author and that the order of the others is agreed among them. Disputes about the order of appearance of the authors are not admitted, once the manuscript is published, since the Journal adheres to what was declared in the original by the same authors.

 

The Ánfora journal accepts the guideline of the Ethics Committee of Publications, COPE, which states that "The adjudication of authorship must weigh the intellectual contributions to the conception, design, analysis, and writing of the study as well as the data collection and other routine jobs. If a specific task cannot reasonably be attributed to a particular author, then it should not be recognized as an author. "If a person has contributed to the manuscript, but their contribution is not part of any of the descriptions, here indicated, the author may be mentioned in the acknowledgments section.
